Food for Thought

Has anyone else noticed the abundance of novels released lately by top selling written with an unknown?

Has anyone else noticed that some of these authors...write more than 2 books a year?

Hands up for anyone who believes that these well known authors write their own books....or is it a multi-million dollar a year business like everything else?

I stand up and declare that I will not read and review any more of these mass-marketed formulaic novels disguised as fiction.

Comments please

This is a great question and one I've wondered about more than once. How can these authors crank out so many novels. They can't be doing much else if you go by what most authors say is such a painstaking process of getting drafts just right for publishing with numerous re-writes. Also, does the quality fall by the wayside with so many coming out a year? I think it has too. I admit to reading one such author-not all of their books but a few.

There is such a thing as ghost-writing, where certain bestselling authors "shrug off" the brunt of the writing work to these anonymous ghost writers, many of whom do not even get acknowledged in the end. Sad, but true.

Could you perhaps be discussing James Patterson, for example?

You should check out this Stephen King interview and what he has to say about Patterson and Meyer.
